The YANMAR CHP unit’s reliable power ensured that there was no need to install a diesel generator, as the CHP power units provided all the heat and power necessary. CHP technology is a more cost-effective option, as well as being a more environmentally conscious option.

Project Overview

K3 Cat Ski recently built an exclusive on-mountain lodge. The lodge does not have commercial power access. The area is a well-known ski resort area with a high tourist volume, offering ski and snowboarding options across the entire mountain with varied terrains. This makes it a key location for K3 Cat Ski company.

K3 Cat Ski needed an on-site, reliable, energy source to provide reliable power and heat for their ski resort. This power needed to be quiet, in order to not disrupt their guest’s vacation experiences.

YANMAR’s CP10WN-SPB x 1 – 10kW CHP and CP5WN-SPB x 1 – 5 kW CHP propane gas models, installed by Calgary-based company Co-genergy, provided the quiet, consistent, heat and power that K3 Cat Ski required.

These model’s reliable power ensured that there was no need to install a diesel generator, as the CHP power units provided all the heat and power necessary. CHP technology is a more cost-effective option, as well as being a more environmentally conscious option. The heat and power provided by CHP units allows for reliable energy despite the harsh weather conditions at their ski resort.

Reason for Choosing YANMAR

  • After researching power options, K3 Cat Ski decided that YANMAR CHP technology was right for them. They reached out to their local YANMAR dealer, Co-genergy, to purchase their CHP units.
  • High fuel efficiency due to recovered heat kept their costs down and minimized their carbon footprint.
  • 88% Overall CHP Efficiency
  • 10,000 Hour Maintenance Interval
  • Quiet 54dB(A) at 3-feet
  • Built-in Radiator
  • Island Mode Operation
  • Reduced Energy Cost by 20-50%

Results

YANMAR CHP technology proved cost-effective when compared to diesel power options. It also removed the need to purchase, handle, and use diesel fuel, which maintained an environmentally friendly approach to power, while not missing out on fuel efficiency.

A long maintenance interval of 10,000 HRs ensured that K3 Cat Ski could focus on providing the best experiences for their customers without the need to consistently maintain and service their heat and power source
